Bang A Drum! Raise Your Voice! Mini-Camp is a two-day mini-camp and celebration of drums, beats, and vocals for girls and trans youth in grades 3-8 (ages 8-13). The mini-camp will feature instrument clinics (drums and vocals), workshops, composition, and performance. We will explore how drumming and singing are used as tools of protest, and create our own chants and songs.  The second day will culminate in a special performance at 4 p.m. for family and friends by campers showcasing their compositions.

Throughout the weekend, Bang A Drum! Raise your Voice! Mini-Camp will honor Dr. King’s legacy by exploring historical and contemporary use of drums and voice as tools of protest and revolution. We will invent our own music and our own ways of giving meaning to our beats, melodies, and lyrics.

Bang A Drum! Mini-Camp is proudly co-sponsored by Tom Tom Magazine.

All activities led by experienced teaching artists and professional musicians.
