“A great experience…and a shot in the arm for your self-esteem.”
-Ladies Rock Camp
WHAT IS LADIES ROCK CAMP?
Ladies Rock Camp is a “grown-up” version of Willie Mae’s summer camp for girls. The program brings together women from different walks of life and varying levels of musical experience for a long weekend of instrument lessons, songwriting, band practice, and workshops, all culminating in a showcase concert at a professional music venue. Sliding scale tuition makes the program accessible to women from all income levels.
In all activities, collaboration and creative risk-taking are encouraged. Classes are taught by experienced female New York City teaching artists and professional musicians in small, focused groups of students.

WHO MAY APPLY FOR CAMP
Ladies Rock Camp participants must be 19 or older at the time of the camp session. Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls welcomes campers who self-identify as women (transgender or cisgender) and non-binary. You don’t have to live in New York to register (please see below for more information about out-of-town campers).
$450 / Full tuition
Financial assistance available; see below
Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and all donations made above full tuition are tax deductible, and much appreciated. Tuition, however, is not a donation, and therefore is not tax deductible.
REDUCED TUITION/FINANCIAL AID
Reduced tuition is available for campers from low- and moderate-income households. Applications for reduced tuition should be included with your camp registration. For more information, see registration materials.
Instruction is offered in electric guitar, electric bass, drums, and vocals. Campers focus on one instrument to study for the weekend (they can play whatever they want in their bands, though we have a limit of one full drum kit per band). Due to the need to finalize gear in advance, campers cannot change their primary instrument of study during the camp session.
Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national and/or ethnic origin, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, mental or physical ability, or gender identity/expression in the administration of any of its educational programs, admissions policies, financial aid, and other camp-related policies and programs, as well as volunteer and employment-related policies and activities.
ACCOMODATIONS FOR OUT OF TOWN CAMPERS
Ladies Rock Camp is a day camp and we do NOT provide lodging. We are able to offer limited assistance with host arrangements. If you are interested in contacting a prospective host and information on available accommodations (including nearby hotels), or if you are local and interested in hosting a camper, please let us know on your registration.
We do not refund or pro-rate fees. If you need to cancel, please notify the office right away. If you must cancel, up to 3 weeks prior to a camp’s start date, we will attempt to fill your space from the wait list. If the spot is filled, a service fee of $75 will be deducted from the refund amount. In the event of medical emergency, credit for a future session may be available. Please note that absolutely no refunds will be issued after the start of the program. If you choose to donate your tuition fee, you will be given a tax receipt.
