WHAT IS LRC 2.0?
Ladies Rock Camp 2.0 is an intensive, three-day music and mentoring program for adult women with previous musical experience. LRC 2.0 is designed for graduates of Ladies Rock Camp, players with 2+ years experience, and seasoned musicians who are interested in a fresh approach and connecting with a new community.
Like the popular core program Ladies Rock Camp, LRC 2.0 is a “grown-up” version of Willie Mae’s summer camp for girls. The program brings together women from different walks of life and varying levels of musical experience for a long weekend of instrument lessons, songwriting, band practice, and workshops, all culminating in a showcase concert at a professional music venue. Sliding scale tuition makes the program accessible to women from all income levels.
In all activities, collaboration and creative risk-taking are encouraged. Classes are taught by experienced female New York City teaching artists and professional musicians in small, focused groups of students.
What makes LRC 2.0 different from the signature LRC program is the level of the instrument classes, the content of the workshops, and the experience level of the musicians in the bands. The instrument classes are geared towards experienced players, with small group instruction tailored to needs of the campers. All-new workshops on topics such as booking gigs, marketing, and more. Performances by outstanding visiting artists. Band coaching to help each band create a fine original song. And, of course, an exciting showcase at a real club.
LRC 2.0 is designed to offer enjoyable artistic challenges to musicians who are ready to take it the next level, in the same supportive environment that can be found at every Willie Mae program.
