GRRRL FRIEND SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was created to allow women affected by violence, living in or out of a shelter environment, the opportunity to experience Ladies Rock Camp.It is funded by Lisa Hamilton and administered by The Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE). Please note: CAE selects recipients for this scholarship through its work with women affected by violence. Rock Camp cannot accept applications for this scholarship.

WHO

Any woman age 19+ can sign up for Ladies Rock Camp. NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY / ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME.  You don’t have to bring your own instrument, but feel free to do so if you like. Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls welcomes campers who identify as female, trans, and gender non-conforming.

INSTRUMENT CHOICE

Please indicate your first, second, and third choice instrument on your registration form. We will do our best to accommodate everyone’s first choice instrument, but please be aware that, in order to have an even distribution of instruments among bands, participants are sometimes given their second, or, rarely, third choice. Please note that drum spots are assigned proportionate to overall enrollment; if you are “wait-listed” for drums, we will make every effort to offer you a spot as enrollment progresses. The earlier you sign up, the more likely you are to get assigned your first choice instrument. And just remember: you can’t lose — it’s all fun!

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you need to cancel after sending in your registration, please notify the office right away. If you choose to donate your tuition fee, you will be given a tax receipt. If you cancel anytime before June 1, you are entitled to a refund of half your tuition minus a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel after June 1, you will not be issued a refund. In the event of medical emergency, credit for a future session may be available. Please note that absolutely no refunds will be issued after the start of the program.

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR OUT OF TOWNERS

Ladies Rock Camp is a day program and we do NOT provide lodging. There are a number of hotels nearby. Also, some local participants are happy to host out-of-towners. Please indicate your preference on the registration form.

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP EACH DAY

  • A t-shirt (or a few) to silkscreen your band logo onto
  • Earplugs
  • Lunch and a snack – or sign up for our Ladies Who Lunch service and have your lunch delivered each day.
  • A water bottle. There are plenty of water fountains, but we highly recommend bringing a bottle to make it easier to stay hydrated while you rock out!
  • If you have your own guitar or bass, feel free to bring it. If you don’t have one, or prefer not to bring yours, we will provide you with the instruments you need.

NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national and/or ethnic origin, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, mental or physical ability, or gender identity/expression in the administration of any of its educational programs, admissions policies, financial aid, and other Camp-related policies and programs, as well as volunteer and employment-related policies and activities.
