WHO MAY APPLY FOR CAMP
Ladies Rock Camp participants must be 19 or older at the time of the camp session. Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls welcomes campers who self-identify as female, trans, and gender non-conforming. No experience is necessary and you don’t have to live in New York to register (please see below for more information about out-of-town campers).
$425 / Full tuition
Financial assistance available; see below
Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and all donations made above full tuition are tax deductible, and much appreciated. Tuition, however, is not a donation, and therefore is not tax deductible.
REDUCED TUITION/FINANCIAL AID
Reduced tuition is available for campers from low- and moderate-income households. Applications for reduced tuition should be included with your camp registration.
For more information, see registration materials.
Instruction is offered in electric guitar, electric bass, drums, and vocals. Campers focus on one instrument to study for the weekend (they can play whatever they want in their bands). If you would like to study a different instrument, like violin, horns, or reed instruments, please indicate that in the instrument section, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Due to the need to finalize gear in advance, campers cannot change their primary instrument of study during the camp session.
Instrument assignment is done in two steps:
STEP ONE: REQUEST. On registration form, please choose your first through third choices, labeling those instruments with 1 through 3.
STEP TWO: ASSIGNMENT. On May 18 and July 19, confirmed campers will be assigned instruments based on availability. ASSIGNMENTS ARE MADE IN THE ORDER IN WHICH TUITION/DEPOSIT IS RECEIVED. If your tuition has been set at $0, assignment is based on the date you confirm acceptance of your spot. So the sooner you complete your registration, the better chance you have of getting your first choice!
Please note: we do our best to give everyone their first choice. However, we cannot guarantee any particular instrument assignment. We have a limit on the number of participants who can study each instrument — drums in particular – so if you MUST be a drummer, be sure to complete your registration early! And remember: you can’t lose — it’s all fun!
Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national and/or ethnic origin, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, mental or physical ability, or gender identity/expression in the administration of any of its educational programs, admissions policies, financial aid, and other camp-related policies and programs, as well as volunteer and employment-related policies and activities.
ACCOMODATIONS FOR OUT OF TOWN CAMPERS
Ladies Rock Camp is a day camp and we do NOT provide lodging. We are able to offer limited assistance with host arrangements. If you are interested in contacting a prospective host and information on available accommodations (including nearby hotels), or if you are local and interested in hosting a camper, please let us know on your registration.
If you need to cancel after sending in your registration, please notify the office right away. If you choose to donate your tuition fee, you will be given a tax receipt. If you cancel anytime before June 1, you are entitled to a refund of half your tuition minus a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel after June 1, you will not be issued a refund. In the event of medical emergency, credit for a future session may be available. Please note that absolutely no refunds will be issued after the start of the program.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL YOU COMPLETE BOTH STEPS BELOW.
STEP ONE: Complete a registration form. Register online or use this paper application. Upon receipt of your registration form, we will send you a notice via e-mail confirming that we have received it. If you apply for reduced tuition, the registration email will indicate your tuition amount.
Confirmations are sent out every two weeks. If you have not received a notice within 3 weeks after you registered, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 347-599-0716. We will email notifications to every applicant, so please be sure your email address is correct and legible.
STEP TWO: Pay tuition/deposit. Your registration email will include instructions on paying tuition or deposit (if applicable). If your tuition is $0, you’ll receive instructions on how to confirm your Ladies Rock Camp spot. THIS STEP MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN TEN DAYS OF THE DATE OF THE REGISTRATION EMAIL IN ORDER TO SECURE YOUR SPOT.
